Visual Basic

Need a specialized Windows application?

A little while ago, I found out that ICI will pay for employees to take classes, provided they get approval from their manager, and that it will be beneficial to their job. So, I decided to make use of that, and I'm currently enrolled in "Introduction to Visual Basic", to be followed by "Intermediate Visual Basic" I think I could have skipped the Intro and gone straight to Intermediate, but oh well, at least it's not too time consuming or anything.

I'm taking it as an online course through Cuyahoga Valley Career Center. It's the first online course I've taken, and the one really nice thing is the convenience of it. Lessons are released every Wednesday & Friday, but there is a two-week grace period. It seems like grading is very lenient, since the only thing that really counts toward getting your "Certificate of Completion" is passing the final exam. I'm certainly not worried about it, since they also provided a "pre-exam" to see how much you already knew about the subject, and could gauge what you've learned. On that, I scored a 75%.

Up until a few weeks ago, I hadn't ever had to use Visual Basic in any of my jobs. My experience with Visual Basic is based entirely on an educational copy I used during my freshman year of college. It will be neat to see what more I can do with it now.

To get even more acquainted with the tool, I'm opening this up to requests. Need any little program developed in Windows? A simple tool that would help you out? Something silly that doesn't serve any real purpose at all? Post your requests here and I'll see what I can do! Anything is possible, so don't hold back!
