Well, I guess I'm a little stressed...
I guess the good news is that I do have the apartment I wanted "on hold" although I'm currently waiting for the information in the mail. Hopefully it'll arrive on Monday. Also waiting on the official offer from ICI Paints as well.
Finding a decent moving company is not off to a good start. I called two places on Thursday to come to the apt and take an estimate. The first one was scheduled for 9am today. So, I'm waiting.. waiting.. 10am, still no sign. I call, and the guy that picks up says that his driver was a little late, and that there was another estimate scheduled for 9am. He says that he will get in touch with the driver and give me a call back to tell me when he should be over to my apartment. So, now I'm waiting for that.. no call. 11am, I finally call back again, asking what's going on. I'm told that he just got in touch with the driver, and that they're figuring something out. He'll call back in just a little bit. This time, he actually does call back, after not more than 10 minutes. He has news to tell me: apparently they scheduled me for Noon on Monday [which doesn't make any sense since I'd be at work].. The guy checks, and evidently the driver cannot come out for an estimate today, nor tomorrow. So, needless to say, I will NOT be using this company. These signs do not bode well for the actual move.
The worst part? According to some community forums I've been researching, this was supposed to be a really good company too. Anyhow, this little setback allowed to me to find two other companies that are supposed to be quite good. I left a message with both, so hopefully I'll hear back on Monday about them too. I have another estimate tomorrow between 11am-1pm, so I'm crossing my fingers that at least this one will go well.
Meanwhile, things at work haven't slowed down at all. Still getting pulled into random calls, even discussing development items I won't be around to support. Everyone there has been very supportive in my decision to move, while at the same time urging me to stay. :) It's nice to feel needed. Might go to a farewell luncheon or two with some co-workers to see me off, which is another nice gesture. 8 more day of work! [and I'm going to get paid 8 vacation days after that. Woo-hoo!]
